Multicasting in Multi-Plane-Deflection-Routed ATM Switch for B-ISDN

This paper presents the multicasting capabilities of a multi-plane Deflection-Routed Circular Banyan (DCB) network based ATM switch for B-ISDN. The DCB switch has a cyclic, regular, self-routing, simple architecture. Its performance is improved due to reduction in blocking by twodimensional path-multiplicity of the proposed architecture. A simple analytical model based on Markov chain has been used to evaluate the performance of the switch under uniform unicast and multicast traffic.
